The Power of Texting Your Customers
By Jared Story
It is very well known that everyone in the US owns and carries a cell phone these days. In fact almost 70% now own smart phones. Phones influence buying decisions on a daily basis, and upwards of 80% of cell phone users have used their phones to decide on where they will go to make purchases.
Having the ability to reach your customers directly through there cell phones is a powerful tool when it comes to marketing. Coca Cola now allocates 70% of their marketing dollars to mobile marketing campaigns. This will be a trend with other large businesses over the next few years as businesses follow how their consumers are making buying decisions these days.
Text message marketing is not a new form of marketing. It has been around for many years, but is still in it's infancy as far as utilization. It is funny to think that though considering these facts.
-80% of cell phone owners communicate using text messaging -98% of text messages get opened in less than 5 minutes -Text message marketing campaigns see a 20-50% plus response rate -Coupons sent to mobile devices are 10X more likely to be redeemed over traditional coupons
If it is lack of knowledge or fear of trying something new, many case studies and annalist firms have come to the same conclusion. Text Marketing is effective, and it is only going to continue to grow as more businesses find out about how to integrate it into their traditional marketing approach.
